What Is Home Automation And How Does It Work

Smart Home Automation

What is home automation?

Home automation is the ability to control all the electronic devices in your home through a remote, wireless network. Each device has the ability to communicate with each other and can be managed through a third-party controller such as Alexa, Control4, Google Assistant or an app.

How home automation works

Home automation systems have three main components: sensors, controllers, and actuators. Sensors detect motion, change in daylight or change in temperature. When you enter a room and your automatic lights come on, thatโ€™s the deviceโ€™s sensor at work. A controller is a device such as Alexa, Control4 or another app on your smart device that keeps you up to date on the status of features in your home. An actuator is a light switch, motor, or motorized valve that controls the mechanism of a home automation system and is activated by a remote command from a controller.

How Aaronโ€™s can help you enjoy the benefits of home automation

Using a control system such as Control4, Aaronโ€™s can install home automation that allows you to integrate many parts of your home under one umbrella, saving you time and money. Your home automation system can control everything from kitchen appliances, music lighting, temperature, security and alarm systems, security cameras, and keyless entry.

With Control4, you can control the room temperature in your home without ever touching the thermostat. You can program your lights to turn off around the time you go to bed and turn on when you normally wake up. You can unlock your front door from the driveway, or if you forget to lock the door but donโ€™t realize it until youโ€™re on your way to work, you can lock it with the push of a button from miles away. If you have security cameras, you can see whatโ€™s going on outside your home right from your phone even if youโ€™re out of town. Home automation puts your mind at ease because everything is on autopilot and you can monitor all your devices anytime and from anywhere.

Who should install your home automation system?
